Tricky morning

First official competition day is finally here. It started with the captain briefing at 9:45 (everyday). The biggest issue was the 310m AMSL for the QNH minimum altitude on the finish ring. This had been a cause of passionate discussion for the last three days. Well, maybe it is a moot point but it is in the rules and it can’t be changed. And the most importantly, the chief steward Ronald didn’t seem that he is willing to even discuss it anymore.

Yesterday we went to a reception in a beautiful Bojnice castle and let’s say some of the pilots were very very hungry. They were so hungry they even missed a little concert and short speech of Bojnice city mayor. The German team captain Uli apologized for all the pilots during the captain briefing, even though his team was the one of the best behaved ones. Still, we are happy that everybody liked the event and didn’t leave hungry.:)

On today’s briefing, there was a big applause for the opening ceremony. Thanks for that. We did our best. :)

Today’s tasks have two variants. For now on there is the variant A in game. Racing task for all classes. For world class is task distance 210,04km, for club class 307,8km and for standard class 343,5km.

In case of variant B there will be speed task for all the classes. (World class-task time: 2hours 20 minutes, task distance: 127,1km/256,5km. Club class-time: 2hours 30minutes, distance: 169,2km/370,6km. Standard class-time: 2hours 30 minutes, distance: 159,9km/332,2km. )

The weather today looks tricky. Horac said that there are two options, which way it will go. The good and the “less good” of course. :) However, we can see some cumuli around here and also Horace said the cloud bases should be at 1900m QNH in the valleys and 2300m QNH in the mountains.

The last information I have is that we switched to variant B - speed tasks and start will be at 12:40.
